Floppy Head and Flamingio

This is Floppy Head and Flamingio. Flamingio the one I made is light pink and my Mum made Floppy Head, the dark pink one.

This one took me a week to make.  Compared to Pidgy, Flamingio is at least 5 times better.  I put lots more concentration, patience and effort into it this time.

When we were making the faces, we had to use a french knot for the eye which I had learned at school.  Whenever mum did hers it went straight through and didn't make a knot so I kept saying "you're doing it wrong, you're supposed to wrap it round 3 times!" and "give it me, I'll do it"  and mum argued back "I'm doing it myself!"

When I came to do my eye, I wrapped it round 5 times, pulled it and it went straight through the felt.  I tried again and again it failed.  Mum and I looked at each other and started to laugh.  We realised that we couldn't do the french knot because of the type of material and decided to embroider the eyes instead.

I decided to call Mum's flamingo Floppy Head because we didn't have enough stuffing for his neck at first and it was really floppy.

When we had finished, I felt like I had accomplished something. Mum asked me what score I would give this project and I think it's at least an 8 or maybe 8.5 out of 10.

I learned a valuable lesson, not to rush.

  1. Eden, amazing stuff! I am really jealous of your sewing skills. Ruby keeps asking me to teach her how to sew and I haven't got a clue! Will you teach her when we are able to meet up again? Xx
